Plantar Fasciitis Treatment
Coral Gables & Miami, FL — Heal the root cause, not just the symptom.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?
The plantar fascia is a long ligament running from your heel bone to the front of your foot. When it becomes inflamed and irritated — from overuse, poor foot mechanics, or improper footwear — the result is a throbbing, burning pain in your heel that radiates outward. This condition is called plantar fasciitis, and it is one of the most common causes of heel pain in adults.
Symptoms
- Sharp, stabbing pain on the bottom of the heel
- Burning or aching sensations, especially with walking
- Worst pain with the first steps in the morning or after sitting
- Pain that worsens progressively over weeks or months
- Discomfort after prolonged standing or activity
Who Is at Risk?
- Runners and athletes with high-impact training
- Individuals who are overweight or spend long hours on their feet
- People with flat feet or unusually high arches
- Adults aged 40–60 (though younger athletes are also affected)
- Those who wear unsupportive footwear on hard surfaces
How Dr. Katz Treats It
Unlike practitioners who default to cortisone injections (which only mask pain temporarily and can weaken tissue over time), Dr. Katz targets the underlying inflammation and tissue damage using regenerative techniques:
- Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) — stimulates tissue repair through focused acoustic energy
- Ultrasound-Guided PRP Injections — concentrated growth factors delivered precisely to the fascia
- Custom Biomechanical Orthotics — correct the root mechanical cause
- Footwear Counseling & Activity Modification — reduce stress on the healing fascia
